Drew grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and stayed true to his roots by obtaining his B.A. at Jackson’s Bellhaven College. After working in the field of education for more than six years, he discovered the charter school movement and began making changes that would allow him to support his community. His belief in the charter school movement also led him to Charter School Capital where he hopes to have a positive impact on charter schools across the country. He has fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest and enjoys getting out into the sunshine when the weather allows, but he still appreciates the flavor of the south by reading books such as A Confederacy of Dunces in his spare time.
“More often than not, students at charter schools depend on their school for so much more than just their education. The school is the center of their communities, and it can be the source of physical and emotional nourishment. For this reason and more, I love it anytime that we can partner with a charter school.”
For an organization dedicated to helping charter schools succeed in their own missions, Drew is one of those team members you appreciate after every turn of the way. And it should come as no surprise, really, given his background.
Drew grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and later graduated with a psychology degree from Belhaven University. His first job focused on helping kids with drug, alcohol, and behavioral challenges. Later, he worked as a literacy consultant advising hundreds of school districts across the country. His professional adventures and passion for education drew him next to our team at Charter School Capital.
Drew joined us as one of the first client service representatives. It was an ideal position. In that role, he was charged with understanding how we would partner with them to strengthen their school. The work allowed him to leverage his past experience with educators and his deep appreciation of the impact that education can play on kids growing up in challenging circumstances.
It’s this informed and empathetic experience that allowed Drew to flourish with us. Drew is now our Senior Director of Business Development. On any given day, you’ll find him assisting and advising charter leaders nationwide while leading a team of client service and inside sales representatives.
Outside of work, Drew is the epitome of an outdoorsman. Along with his fiancee, Lisa, and chocolate lab, Maggie, he resides in a quaint mountain town in Central Oregon. There, he finds joy in the simple things: cooking meals with Lisa, hiking with Maggie, fly fishing, and all sorts of other outdoor adventures.
