Title: Corporate Financial Analyst
Reports To: Chief Accounting Officer
FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt

Position Summary: 
The Corporate Financial Analyst position is a critical financial role that analyzes financial information to produce forecasts for the various business lines in order to make informed investment decisions in the support of Charter School Capital’s vision to own the market. This position requires a driven individual who is an innate problem solver. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial data and create sophisticated financial models for decision support
  • Perform financial forecasting, reporting and operational metrics tracking
  • Develop financial models to support valuation, planning and forecasting
  • Guide cost analysis process by informing, establishing and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses
  • Study proposed changes in methods and materials
  • Aid in the capital budgeting and expenditure planning processes
  • Identify and drive process improvements
  • Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools
  • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
  • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision support
  • Report on financial performance and prepare for regular leadership reviews
  • Analyze results, perform variance analysis, identify trends and make recommendations for improvements
  • Assist in the preparation of internal & external investment memoranda and other presentation materials
  • Support Charter School Capital’s efforts to raise capital to drive its various business lines
  • Support the financial planning work of American Education Properties (AEP)
  • Guide multiple tasks towards completion simultaneously, while remaining accurate and thorough
  • Support efforts to create financing structures that align a Charter School Capital investment
  • Contribute to and manage investment materials for presenting opportunities to potential investors
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships, motivate individuals and contribute to a team
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
  • Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion and negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure

General Requirements:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports, audits, legal documents or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers and coworkers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, top management and clients
  • Ability to prepare and make presentations in front of small groups
  • Ability to create and/or calculate complex financial performance and return information, including IRR, NPV, DCF, ROC, and yields
  • Familiar with calculation and use of discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
  • Strong aptitude for learning new mathematical skills
  • Expert in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Must be a strong reference for other users for performing different functions with the computer and in utilizing different technological solutions to solve problems as presented
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of business finance, or equivalent experience
  • High proficiency with financial modeling and techniques
  • Strong fluency with excel formulas and functions
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills
  • Good business acumen
